The Building Work

The roof trusses have now been ordered for the newly built classrooms so we should be seeing the roof go on fairly soon. After that the plasterers and electrical contractors will be moving in.

Those of you who pass the school from the direction of St Andrew’s Church will have noticed the extension to the front of the building has been started.

This section leads into a secure holding area by the new General Office for any visitors to the school before they are allowed to enter the main building.

It looks as though we’ll be on track to have the whole development finished by early July as planned.

If you want a good overview of the extent of the works just walk onto the pedestrian walkway over Northway and you can see just how much has been achieved.

School Featured in Maghull Champion

The school was featured in the Maghull Champion for its Christmas festivities. Read the full story here

New Nursery Provision

The Governors of St Andrew’s are interested in opening a private nursery in the grounds of the School but, before we can submit any declaration of intent, we have been asked by Sefton Children, Schools and Families to find out how many of our current parents (and their friends, neighbours and extended families) might actually use such a provision.

Sefton will look at those expressions of interest as well as other relevant statistics (such as the birth rate over the past few years in Maghull and District) as a guide to the local need.

I’ll be sending out a leaflet with more information when we return from the Half Term holiday.

Parents Afternoon

Just to say a big ‘Thank You’ for the really positive response to our Parents’ Questionnaire and the way in which we’d tweaked Parents’ Afternoon to make it more focused. There were many comments on how good it was to have the children involved, as well as the sharing of assessments and progress achieved.

There’s still some work to be done to keep the appointments on time but, overall, this year was a vast improvement on previous years.

Year 6 "60's Day"

Just a very quick ‘Well Done’ to all the Year 6 Staff, Children and helper Parents for the effort they put in to making yesterday’s ‘60’s’ Theme Day such a great success. Their costumes were just superb and I just wish I’d had more time to go and relive my teenage years. Still, nostalgia’s not what it used to be! Photographs of the day coming soon, courtesy of Mr ‘David Bailey’ Mawdsley.
